About the National Service Scheme
National NSS informationThe National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It was launched on 24 September 1969. The motto of NSS is “Not Me But You”, expressing the essence of democratic living and selfless service. Volunteers participate in regular activities and special camping programmes to serve their community and develop their personality.
The NSS Symbol
The NSS symbol is based on the Konark Wheel of the Sun Temple, Odisha — a symbol of continuity, progress and dynamic change. Its red and blue colours represent energy and the cosmos of service.
